COTE BUILT HOMES

Hello my name is Joel Cote, owner and lead carpenter of Cote Contracting / Cote Built Homes. I started out in the trades roughly 30 years ago. I never went to a trade school and I do not come from a family of carpenters. However, I was always the type even at a young age that loved to get his hands dirty and actually enjoyed working hard. When I was around 20, I wanted to learn how to build things so I went to work for a framer and framed homes. I then went to work for a home builder that built the house from start to finish for the sole purpose of learning as many trades as possible and to learn to build a house from scratch.  After 2 years, I left and started Cote Contracting. At first I did small remodel jobs and eventually graduated to bigger remodel jobs. Of all the trades the one that seemed to fit me the best was finish carpentry, so that became my focus for the next 20 years. I developed a strong reputation as an interior finish carpenter with a focus on new construction.

By 2014, after building hundreds of stairways, I realized my knees did not want build stairs anymore so I decided to start building houses myself rather than working for the builders. As a finish carpenter, I tend to be meticulous and that is what I try to bring to home building. I keep solid crew of subcontractors and I still do the majority of the carpentry work. I keep my job sites clean and organized because things run smoother when they are. I make sure the schedule stays on track and things are done in the order they are supposed to be done.

I have always thought that if a person invests his blood and sweat into something they will take pride in it. I don’t just write checks and pay people, my finger prints are all over every house I build and I am proud of every one of them. It brings me great joy to see and hear the satisfaction from the customers that have purchased a home from me. I have always lived by the motto that no one is perfect but when I build a stairway or a deck or install a kitchen or build a house, I try as hard as I can to be perfect and I think customers notice this and benefit from it once they are in their new home.
